Founded by Steve Childs and James Dennis, our journey began with Tootega, where we revolutionized sit-on-top kayaks with innovative design and a deep understanding of what paddlers truly need. But we weren’t done there. We wanted to craft something exceptional.
With years of experience in paddlesports and manufacturing, we saw an opportunity to bring the same dedication to the world of canoes. We wanted to craft something exceptional—boats that combined cutting-edge materials with time-honored craftsmanship. Thus, Silverbirch Canoes was launched, not just as a company, but as a community-driven brand focused on quality, performance, and the paddlers who inspire us. We aim to produce canoes that are not only high performing, but that also become trusted companions on the water.
At the heart of Silverbirch is our workshop in Norfolk, UK, where every canoe is designed, built, and finished by hand. We work closely with a network of passionate paddlers, outdoor educators, and expedition leaders to refine and perfect every detail.
